FIRST(For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is an international robotics program for kids of all ages. The program is divided into four smaller programs: FIRST Lego League Jr. (K-3rd grades), FIRST Lego League (3rd-8th grades), FIRST Tech Challenge (7th-12th grades), and FIRST Robotics Competition (9th-12th grades).

The Army Ants are involved in FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). Each year, teams receive a new challenge and have just six weeks to design, build, and test a robot that effectively completes the challenge before competing at regionals. FRC emphasizes gracious professionalism, teamwork, and cooperation, not just with team members, but with alliance members as well.

Worldwide, there are over 3,000 FIRST teams, involving more than 75,000 students and 19,000 mentors. FIRST participants are twice as likely to major in STEM fields.
